Skull fractures

There are many different types of skull fractures, such as:

– Linear or depressed fractures

–  Skull vault or base fractures

– Complex open fractures

–  Simple close skull fractures

Most of the linear fractures are usually managed conservatively. However, there are certain indications that may need urgent surgical intervention to save patient from complications related to this condition, especially in complex open depressed skull fracture. The indications are discussed based on clinical evaluation of the shape, site, extent of fractures and associated injuries.
